Volunteers start cooking around 4 a.m. for the annual pancake breakfast.

Sunday, May 16, marks the date for the 39th Annual Duvall Volunteer Fire Fighters Pancake Breakfast.

An all-you-can-eat breakfast of pancakes, eggs, ham, applesauce, orange juice, milk, and coffee will be served from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Duvall Fire Hall on the corner of 1st and Stella. Pancakes have taken artistic shapes such as bears, dinosaurs, and Disney characters in the past.

Admission is $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, and senior citizens for $5.00

The breakfast is sponsored by the Duvall Fire Fighters Association and has become the social event of the year for the Duvall area. Volunteers begin the night before preparing for the crowd and begin cooking in the early hours before the first customer. Last year, more than 3,000 breakfasts were served by the volunteer Fire Fighters and their families.

The breakfast is the Association's main fund raising event for the year. Proceeds benefit the Association's social events, including an annual awards banquet, and various community projects, including support of a local Cub Scout troop and the local food bank.
