Join the band, march in the Fourth of July parade

For the 14th year, Mills Music is offering elementary school student musicians the opportunity to join the Mills Music Marching Minstrels Band if they play a band instrument or keyboard.

Rehearsals are in downtown Bothell at Anderson School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. throughout the month of June. The band finishes up by showing its stuff at the Bothell Fourth of July parade.

"Parents along the parade route literally burst with pride as they see their child march by with the big band," said Mike Mills, owner of Mills Music. "Sometimes the parents walk the whole parade route taking photos."

Band members receive 10 music and marching lessons, a uniform hat, and shirt which they can keep. Register at any Mills Music store by May 29. Cost is $45.

Band directors advise parents not to worry about missing a few rehearsals due to conflicts in schedules that all kids have at the end of the school year.
