Spaghetti feed and silent auction to benefit local student

Eighth grade language arts teacher Ellen James will host a spaghetti feed and silent auction on Wednesday, May 26, in the Tolt Middle School multi-purpose room from 6-8:30 p.m. to benefit a Tolt student who has a chronic, incurable illness called Crohn's disease, which affects the digestive process and the ability to absorb nutrients.

The student, Melissa Jarving, is in a great deal of pain on a daily basis. At this point, she has been classified in the "failure to thrive" category, and has been in and out of the hospital for the last several months. While her family has decent insurance, it does not cover all costs. She has several hospital stays and co-payments that add up.

The goal is to raise $5,000 to help cover those costs. Please help by donating an item, service, or funds to the benefit auction, or attend the spaghetti feed. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children six to twelve, and children five and under are free.

If interested in donating, please contact Ellen James at 425-333-4191. Also, donations may be made at Seafirst Bank to the Melissa Jarving Benefit Fund.
