The Woodinville Fire & Life Safety District will offer a third class series for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, every Wednesday night starting July 7 and ending August 18.
The 6-9 p.m. class covers the following subjects: disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical (two weeks), light search & rescue, disaster psychology, team organization, and disaster simulation. Classes will be held at the District Headquarters station at 19900 144th Ave. NE in Woodinville.
Deputy Chief of Operations Dominic Marzano said that, if available, emergency services personnel are the best trained and equipped to handle emergencies and should be the first choice. However, catastrophic disasters could leave large segments of the population without access to those personnel for extended periods, depending on the size of the area affected, impassable roads and lost communications.
CERT training is designed to help individuals and family members help themselves and neighbors deal with unforeseen disasters, said Marzano. The training covers basic skills that enable cititzens to save lives and protect property.
Two more class series will be offered in the fall, from Sep. 1-Oct. 13 and Oct. 27-Dec. 15. For further information or to register for the classes, call Marzano at 425-483-2131 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
