Technology levy fails

The $3.9 million Riverview Technology levy appeared to be going down to defeat last Friday, with the latest vote tallies at just over 56 percent in favor and 43 percent against.

The levy would have paid for new computers, teacher training, and wiring for all the schools. The measure needed a 60 percent supermajority to pass.

Riverview Board President Laura Ritter said the board will have it back on the agenda soon, but other matters, such as shopping for a new superintendent and the upcoming M & O levy, will take precedence.

"It's important to note, however, that over 50 percent of the ballots cast were in favor," she said.
