Civic Club sees green after plant sale

DUVALL--On May 8, the Civic Club and its newly-formed Auxiliary celebrated the 30th anniversary of its annual plant sale, the most successful one of all, according to club member Bonnie Greenberg.

In the capable hands of the Auxiliary and a few members of the main body of the Civic Club, the sale drew a steady stream of buyers in spite of the cool, threatening weather, she said.

The sale was made in part with many donated plants. The volunteer workers from both sections of the Civic Club kept busy relocating plants to keep the area attractive and greeting the buyers. Wagons were available to transport plants to cars.

For those who had questions, Master Gardeners Joan Helbacka and Carol Sauconnies identified plants and gave planting advice. An advisor on composting was also available.

Profits from the sale will be returned to the community in the form of donations to the library, schools and other worthy programs.

Members of the Civic Club and its Auxiliary say they are grateful to all who made the sale possible. For further information about the club, call Lee Green at 788-2466 or Lydia Smith at 788-0297.
