Space Grant Scholar Marcus Collins is among those who graduated from the University of Washington on June 12. The Woodinville High School graduate, 21, received his bachelor's degree in physics. He has been awarded a National Science Foundation fellowship to pursue graduate studies in physics at Cornell University. His most recent undergraduate work involves research into assumptions about the temperature of the earth between the earth's surface and core. In 1997, Collins was awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.
Bothell Space Grant Scholar Alexis Hope also received her bachelor's degree in computer science from the UW. Hope devoted her summer to work in the seismology laboratory, which studies earthquakes. Her interest in computers grew out of her summer research work.
