District begins search for new superintendent

The Riverview School District Board of Directors has developed a search process for a new superintendent. The board met on June 7, agreed on a process, and will be seeking proposals from search consultants who they anticipate interviewing on June 14.

The process the school board is asking consultants to employ will include a great deal of community involvement, including community forums to both identify the qualifications for the new superintendent and to provide feedback of final candidates that are interviewed in public forums.

The board is also asking the search consultant to work with an advisory team which will consist of 15 members that will be very closely involved in the superintendent search and selection process.

The school board recognizes that for complete community involvement to be provided, the selection process may be extended into the fall of 1999. In the short term, the board hopes to identify an interim superintendent to serve until a permanent superintendent is hired.
