You have taken a sport you love, and by sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for it, have helped build character, teamwork, and sportsmanship in all of us.
Prior to this baseball season, most of us, although neighbors, were total strangers. We now can say hello to each other as we meet in our towns.
It is for these very reasons, Dan, that you and others like you are so much appreciated in our community. Our society is deteriorating around us, yet a few truly "big and unique" individuals, such as you, step up to the plate and remind us of our true purposes in life.
Have a great summer, Dan, and a heartfelt thank you from all of us. Never did a man stand so tall than when he stooped to help a boy.
