Tree Board position filled

The City Council appointed Sheryl Oppen to the Tree Board on Monday, June 14, following the recommendations of the Tree Board and councilmembers Carol Bogue and Barbara Solberg, all of whom interviewed the sole candidate. The position became vacant when Pam Coney left the Board.

Oppen has lived in the Woodinville area for more than ten years. She has worked as a licensed dental hygienest for 20 years and as Vice-President/Secretary of Twentieth Century Homes, Inc., she and her husband's general construction company, for 14 years.

Oppen volunteers at Leota and Wellington schools, the PTA, Brownies, Woodinville Little League, with her church, and homeowners association.

"Preserving the forest is very important to me, but not at the expense of human lives," said Oppen. "Our company (Twentieth Century) tries to save tree groupings that would not fall on homes or endanger people that live in them."
