The Children's Parade begins at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. All are encouraged to attend in their best parade regalia. Children may walk or ride bikes or trikes (but no motorized vehicles), and parents are welcome to walk with them. Parents are asked to meet their children at the end of the parade route, which runs the length of Main Street. All participants will receive prizes. No parade registration is required.
At 1:00 p.m., the Grand Parade starts at 104th Ave. NE and Main St. This year's theme is "It's a Grand Old Flag." Advanced registration is required, and entry applications are available through the Parks & Recreation Department.
Gates open at 6 p.m., and free performances kick off then at The Family Entertainment Stage, featuring a magic show, The Cascade Brass Quintet, Rhys Thomas Juggling, and the popular group Kickshaw. Kids will have plenty to do, with various rides, games, and arts and crafts.
The Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra performs at Chateau Ste. Michelle (tickets available from TicketMaster).
Metro will provide FREE shuttle service from the Woodinville Park & Ride, Northshore Junior High, and Woodmoor Elementary, with stops along the route to JB Instant Lawn, the event site. Fireworks begin at 10:30 p.m.
A Moonlight Paddle to the Fireworks Show is another unique way to celebrate the 4th of July in a kayak. Call 425-489-2700 to register for this kayak program or other information. The fireworks event is presented by Woodinville Parks & Recreation. Brochures are available at the Woodinville and Kingsgate Libraries and Woodinville City Hall.
On Sunday, July 4, a flag raising is scheduled for 7 a.m. at the parking lot of the LDS Church. Registration for the 5k run will begin at 7:30 a.m. inside of the community center.
At 8 a.m., registration for Hot Rods & Harleys will be at Carnation Grade School at Tolt and E. Morrison, and from 8-12 a.m., inner-tube registration will be held at the Main St. information booth. From 8-11 a.m., a pancake breakfast is scheduled at the Tolt Congregational Church.
The 5k Run/Walk for the Pies will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the start and finish by Pete's Club on Tolt Ave. Miss Carnation Queen's Court will be announced at 10:15 a.m. on the Parade Stage.
The Kiddie Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Grand Parade, beginning on Morrison St. by the library. Other events include Vendor Village downtown and at the carnival site, strawberry shortcake at the senior center, and, at noon, storytelling by Allie Oop at the Carnation Library.
Pete's Club will have a beer garden ongoing from 12 to 12. The fire department waterball contest is scheduled from noon to 1:15 on Main Street.
Afternoon musical offerings include the Scottish Bagpipe Band from 12:15-12:45 on Commercial St. and Main at the Parade Stage; Ladies Don't Drum from 12:45-1:30 on Pete's Main Stage; Toast from 1:45-2:45 at Pete's Main Stage; Jack Ballard from 3-3:30 on Pete's Main Stage; and Los Orchids from 3:45-5 p.m. on Pete's Main Stage.
At 1:45, entrants for the inner-tube race will line up at the Tolt River at the end of 329th, with the Great 4th of July Inner-Tube Race scheduled for 2 p.m. Visitors can also watch a cow milking demonstration in the Ixtapa parking lot.
Late afternoon and evening musical events include Skip Peri from 3:45-4:15 on Pete's Main Stage; Kids Stage from 5:15-5:45 on Tolt's Fireworks Stage; Skip Peri from 6:45-7:30 on the Tolt Field Stage; Jr. Cadillac from 6:30-9:30 on Pete's Main Stage; and Dambreakers with the Tonettes from 7:45-10 on Tolt's Fireworks Stage.
