This Fourth of July was the best ever

I worked on the great Carnation 4th of July celebration committee this year. I've been on the committee in '96 and '97, working as the parade co-chair with Cheryl Taylor. This year, I believe the 4th of July celebration activities were the best ever.

The committee did a great job in working together to plan and run the day's activities. I would like to say thank you to Brian and Anita Lee, Steve and Doreen Norton, Paulette Jacklin, Kathy Castello, Steve Collins, Liz Rowe, Cheryl Taylor, and Sally Kennelly for their hard work and commitment. I enjoyed working with all of you.

Thank you to all the merchants that helped out. A big thank you to our police department for all their hard work and overtime they put in on the 4th. A special thank you to our announcers Jack Ballard and Jackie Perrique: you did a great job this year.

I hope next year we get more people to join our committee, as many of you can see now there are only 11 of us who put this together. We would appreciate the help. I have served on many committees and this is by far my favorite. It is rewarding to see everyone have a great time and to see all the smiling faces. I hope everyone had a good time and enjoyed themselves.

Cheryl and I would like to thank all the residents who live on the west side of Morrison and Steward Ave. for allowing us to set the parade route in front of your homes.
