Join in: sign up for biking, running, racing, and martial arts

   Athletes of all ages can participate in Kla Ha Ya Days Festival contests on Saturday. There's still time to sign-up for these events.

   Contestants in the 8K River Run/5K Walk take off at 5:30 p.m. sharp on Saturday, July 17. Contestants who finish in less than an hour will beat the parades--The Top Foods Sunset parade--which starts at 6:30 p.m. Slower contestants have to join the parade and finish the race with spectators cheering them on.

   The course starts in front of Snohomish Fitness Center on Ave. B and Second Street. It continues onto First Street over the Snohomish River Bridge, proceeds along the riverbank through scenic farm country, and comes out onto Avenue D and 2nd Street. The course ends on a slight uphill grade on Avenue B. Water and aid stations line the way. The course is timed and measured by AA Sports of Portland.

   Register up to day-of-race for $15 at Snohomish Fitness Center, 119 Ave. B in Snohomish. Tank tops for an additional $6, are limited on the day-of-race. The 5K walk is not timed.    The 70-mile Kla Ha Ya Bicycle Road Race takes off in four waves between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sat., July 17, from First and Maple Streets. Five categories: women's, juniors (ages 15-18), and men's beginning, intermediate, and advanced/professional classes. Fee is $20. Registration open until day of race.    Centennial Cycle's Bicycle Race for kids ages 5-12 begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at First and Cedar Streets in Snohomish. Free sign-up stays open until 4 p.m. on the day of the race. For early registration or details, call Centennial Cycle at 568-1345.

   The Snohomish Soap Box Grand Prix seeks entrants ages 7-14. The race starts at 12:30 on Saturday, July 17, on First and Union Streets in downtown Snohomish. A $10 entry fee includes a T-shirt for soapbox drivers. Pit crew shirts may be purchased separately.    Kla Ha Ya Days Festival welcomes martial artists of any style to perform in exhibitions at Kla Ha Ya Days festival on the second stage on First Street and Ave. D.
