Synchronized swim team goes national

   Area swimmers on the Seattle Synchronized Swim Team competed in Gainsville, Florida, June 26-July 4, at the Baquacil Age Group Championships, the world's largest synchro competition, featuring more then 1,000 swimmers representing 83 clubs from all over the U.S.

   Winning swimmers ages 12 to 13 include: Duet--Katie Mahon, Kristie Mahon (Woodinville), 14th place; Trio, Katie Mahon, Kristie Mahon (Woodinville), 10th place; Team--Janelle Arenz (Mill Creek), Alexandra Barbee (Woodinville), Katie Mahon, Kristie Mahon (Woodinville), Jenna Swalin (Kenmore), Hanne Zak (Bothell), Kirstin Leyh (Bothell), 12th place.

   Ages 14 to 15: Duet--Alexsandra Lazovic (Kirkland), Katie Lorenz (Woodinville), 12th place, Team--Karen Engle (Bothell), Christin Fergus-Jean (Shoreline), Alexsandra Lazovic (Kirkland), Katie Lorenz (Woodinville), Elizabeth Pempe (Kirkland).

   Ages 16 to 17: Solo--Jennifer Arenz (Mill Creek), 13th place, Rachel Walton (Kirkland), 18th place; Duet--Julie Bordner (Kenmore), Sally Winchester (Everett), 24th place; Trio--Elizabeth Pempe (Kirkland), Rachel Walton (Kirkland), Sally Winchester (Everett), 10th place.

   Ages 18 to 19: Solo--10th Bryn Thompson (Woodinville), 10th place; Duet--Bryn Thompson (Woodinville), Shannon Wing (Bothell), 6th place.
