Ben Jones Memorial Golf Tournament benefits Sno-Valley Seniors

The 1st annual Ben Jones Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Sno-Valley Seniors was a well-planned success.

The tournament was held on July 13, five years to the day longtime Carnation resident Ben Jones suffered a heart attack while playing his beloved sport. His wife, Isabel Jones, decided the event was an excellent way to memorialize her husband and benefit the Sno-Valley Seniors.

A total of 76 participants from the Puget Sound area took part in the event held at the scenic Mt. Si 18-hole golf course under sunny skies, but none got the hole-in-one to win the Buick provided by Huling Brothers car dealership.

Bill Clark did make a hole-in-one to receive 1,500 golf balls, also provided by Huling Brothers. Mrs. Clark remarked that the "36 dozen golf balls should last him through the season."

The threesome of Bill Lyle, Adam Lyle, and Brent Wittle of Kent were the 1st place winners and received engraved crystal bowls. Ben Jones was the trio's father-in-law and uncle. The fourth 1st place bowl was given to Isabel Jones in honor of her husband's memory.

Isabel Jones said she appreciates the work of Dixie Neumann, Mickey Murphy, Joe Wolf, Darryl Greenwood, and Jane Lodenback for their support and help in planning the event.
