Lost dogs need a home

   DUVALL--Two frightened Labrador retrievers, one yellow and one black, were found by a Duvall resident just after July 4. Ken Hendrickson, who found the dogs, says he would like to find the owner or owners or new homes for them. They are nice, gentle dogs, he says. Anyone with information or who would like to adopt either or both dogs, should call Hendrickson at 788-4883.

Carnation Citywide Garage Sale

   The Carnation Citywide Garage Sale, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, is set for Saturday, Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are 10X10 ft. spaces available for $10 along Tolt Ave. and other areas for local residents to bring saleable items. This annual event draws thousands of bargain hunters to Carnation. Spaces are on a first-come basis, so make your reservations now. Fire Department open house

   Duvall-King County Fire District 45 will host an open house on Saturday, July 31, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Meet local firefighters, check out the fire trucks, see displays of firefighting and emergency medical equipment, watch firefighters cut up a car using the "jaws of life," and get information on how to become a volunteer firefighter. Blood pressure checks, refreshments, and tours will also be available. A firm will be on hand to inspect and recharge fire extinguishers. Bring yours for service.

Tolt reunion potluck

   On Sunday, Aug. 1, starting at noon, all attendees of Tolt High School are welcome at the Tolt Reunion Picnic at the new Tolt Middle School. Anyone who attended Tolt and their families should bring a potluck dish and fond memories. Pictures will be taken of the oldest student, the student that has come the farthest, the family with the most attendees, and the class with the most present. Picnic will be rain or shine. Learn about local plants and animals

   Come learn about the plants and animals found at Tolt MacDonald Park and campground through songs, games and crafts on Aug. 2-5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For ages 6-12 years. Please bring a sack lunch and drink. Snacks will be provided. Fee is $60. Preschool workshop

   A free workshop for preschoolers (ages 4 and 5) and their parents will be held on Thursday, Aug. 5, from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Carnation Library. Parents will learn how to help prepare their preschoolers for school. Please register by calling Eastside Literacy at 844-2459.

Classes at Valley General Hospital in Monroe

   Adult CPR will be taught on Monday, Aug. 2 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., fee $7. An 8-week Childbirth Preparation class will be held Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. from Aug. 5-Sept. 23; fee is $70. Choosing and Using a Car Seat, a free class, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. A Sibling Preparation class is set for Saturday, July 31, from 9:30-11 a.m.; fee is $5 per family. A free Newcomer's Breakfast will welcome those new to the area or to the hospital on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 9 a.m. in Cafe Corner.
