DUVALL--At last week's council meeting, retiring reserve police Officers Gene Roy and Roger McGlauflin were presented with plaques of appreciation by Police Chief Glenn Merryman.

"They have meant a great deal to us," said Merryman of the officers. He noted that the reserve department of Duvall was created in 1984. "These reserve officers volunteer for one reason only, to give back to the place where they live," he said.

Roy has been with the Duvall Police Department since June 1988. "Mac" has served since May 1985. Each officer received a plaque, and their wives were presented with flowers as a token of thanks from the city.

In other city business, City Director Jim Bourasa told the council that the scheduled March-October 2000 closure of the Novelty Bridge on NE 124th may be held up, due to steel availability. He added, though, that all intersection work critical to that closure is still scheduled to be completed by March 15 of next year.
