Skateboard trip

   The Bellevue Indoor Skateboard Center has been rented out on Friday evening, August 14, for participants in this Woodinville Parks and Recreation program. Transportation will be provided from Woodinville City Hall. The bus leaves at 8:30 p.m. and returns at 11:30 p.m. Cost is $7 per person. Pre-registration is required and no walk-ons are allowed. Participants are required to wear a helmet, and elbow and knee pads, which will be provided for you if you don't bring your own. In-line skates are also allowed at the Center. Parents and teens will need to sign a release form to take part in this trip. Register by calling 425-489-2700.

Women's personal safety class

   The Redmond Police Department is offering a women's personal safety course on Thursday evening, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. The course is open to the public and there is no fee for attending. The class is appropriate for ages 14 and older and is designed to teach crime prevention techniques. This is not a self-defense course. The focus will be on awareness and other simple concepts that can help a woman reduce her chance of becoming a crime victim. The class will be held in the Council Chambers at the Redmond Public Safety Building, 8701 160th Ave NE. For further information and to RSVP, call (425) 556-2545.

Wine festival at Herbfarm

   The Herbfarm's annual NW Wine Festival will be held Aug. 14 and 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Fall City site. Over 100 wines from around the Northwest will be available for tasting. Food, souvenirs, plants, and tee-shirts will also be featured. For additional information, call (206) 784-2222 and select "0" for customer service.

Fuchsia show

   The Sno-King Fuchsia Society will hold its annual judged show on Aug. 14 and 15 at the Country Village Shopping Center, 23720 Bothell/Everett Highway. Hours for the free event are noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Quilts for Homeless

   The Sammamish Valley Grange project, Quilts for Homeless, has resumed. The next cutting and sewing event is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. Bring a sandwich. For information, call 483-2693.
