Whitaker has served as the program director at Children's Services of Sno-Valley for six years. She originally became involved with the local non-profit agency when one of her twin sons, now 18 years old, was born with Down's Syndrome.
She later served on the agency's Board of Directors before taking a staff position in 1986. A resident of Snoqualmie, she and her husband John have four children.
Whitaker will serve as interim executive director while the Board of Directors searches for a permanent chief to replace Joan Sharp, who has taken a position with United Way of King County.
"We are delighted to be able to identify someone of Nancy's obvious capability within the staff of Children's Services of Sno-Valley to take on this important role," notes Board President Nancy Myhre of Fall City. "We considered and talked to a number of outside candidates, but came away from the process convinced that Nancy's outstanding abilities and experience are more than adequate to meet the demands of the position."
CSSV's mission in part is "To nurture, educate, strengthen, and support children and their families."
