The all-star major girls (11 and 12-year-old) team from Woodinville West went 4-0 to win the Little League District 8 competition behind the pitching of Dani Weir who threw a no hitter against North King County and a three hitter against Northshore.
Following their District 8 victory, the team was off to the State Tournament in Burien where Woodinville West defeated South Everett, South Highline and Auburn on their way to the championship game against North Issaquah.
In the final game, the West girls won a hard fought victory in extra innings. Two bunts by Keely Helbock and Ashley Ahlgrim and five consecutive hits by the team gave West a 10-6 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Issaquah tried to steal home, but West catcher, Amanda Fleischman, made the tag for the first out followed by two strikeouts by pitcher Lindsay Boughton.
The next step for the team is the Divisional Tournament in Hood River, Oregon where they will play against teams from Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
