Billmaier plays in Connie Mack World Series

   ALBUQUERQUE--Woodinville High School shortstop and Notre Dame recruit Kris Billmaier had three hits last Wednesday, Aug. 4, as his Washington Bankers team won the Connie Mack West Regional title with an 11-5 win over the Orange County Giants.

   The Bankers, who won four of five regional games, advanced to the Connie Mack World Series that started last Friday in Farmington, New Mexico.

   The team features several other Eastside stars, including Jefferson Thiel, Juanita High grad and Husky baseball recruit; Liberty's Andy Jarvis; and Eastside Catholic's Adam Taylor. Thiel was 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs.

Lenny Wilkins Celebrity Golf Tournament

   The 1999 Lenny Wilkens Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held Monday, August 23, at Echo Falls Country Club. Proceeds benefit the Odessa Brown Children's Clinic, a satellite of Children's Hospital. Golfers are encouraged to sign up. The tournament fee of $250 includes continental breakfast, lunch, and banquet dinner/auction. Call to reserve a spot and receive your invitation to play with a celebrity team captain.
