District-wide educational programs

The Voyager Program is available for students in grades 4 to 8. Students activities reinforce basic skills. Voyager classes meet twice a week, for three hours. The themes for the coming school year include, for the 1st semester: Success City, USA, in which students participate in the American economic system by "doing business" as students invent and market a new product; and for the 2nd semester: American Dream, in which students will explore history, government, economics and sociology while investigating the interactions of people, places and environments across America.

The CLIP Program is an opportunity for high school age students who want to earn a high school diploma or prepare for the G.E.D. test, but find that the traditional public school setting does not match their personal educational needs and learning styles.

The PARADE Program is an alternative learning collaboration between the Riverview District and homeschooling families. In this K-8 program, the parents are the primary providers of their children's education, while the district offers supplemental classes.

Classes for these children are offered in computers, science, art, music, drama, Spanish, writing and physical education. For more information, contact AnnRene Joseph, Manager of Alternative and Extended Learning Programs, at 333-4115, ext. 253, or Cindy Sage, Program Assistant for Alternative and Extended Learning Programs at 333-4115, Ext. 282.

Application materials are also available at the district office, located at 32240 NE 50th St., Carnation.
