Valley Special

VRA receives bequest

Paul Anthony Simburger decided to make sure his accumulated assets impacted the community he loved. He made sure his will included, among other specific bequests, a $5,000 donation to the Valley Recreation Association, according to VRA Board president Jeff Spencer.

On February 7, 1999, Mr. Simburger died peacefully at his home at Lake Joy. He was 83.

According to his attorney, Mr. Simburger had a long career as a merchant seaman. When not sailing the world's oceans, he maintained a cabin on the shore of Lake Joy and, ever the sailor, kept a small fleet of canoes, rowboats and other "vessels."

His gift to the Valley Recreation Association will help the group determine the marketability of a swimming pool and recreation center in the Lower Snoqualmie Valley. Those who would like to help the VRA build the dream of a pool and recreation center into a reality can contact them at P.O. Box 522, Carnation, 98014 or via e-mail at SnoVRA@aol.com.
