One Friday per month, parents will have the opportunity to do whatever they like. While parents are out, the YMCA staff will provide a special evening designed for children. Activities will include arts and crafts, Adventure Zone, activities in the gym, swimming, and a movie. The program is available for children ages 6 years and up. Space is limited to 40 children on Fridays; Sept. 24, Oct. 29, Nov. 19, Dec. 17, 6-11 p.m.

'Get Real' Weight Management

The Y presents a new approach to real life weight management. The secret is activity and self-empowerment. Learn the 80/20 principle and how the professionals apply this tool and others for their own weight management. The 10-week course starts Sept. 13. Class meets Monday evenings, 7-8 p.m. at the Northshore YMCA.

Youth and Government delegations forming

Groups of teens interested in voicing their civic concerns and making a difference in their communities are invited to join the Northshore YMCA Youth and Government delegation now being formed. The kick-off meeting will be held Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Northshore Y. From October through April, students in this program will meet once a week and learn about debating, public speaking, research, and teamwork, as they write, present, and lobby bills. In April, the delegation will travel to Olympia for the Youth Legislative Session.
