Guaranteed Education Tuition returns

The Guaranteed Education Tuition program is now accepting enrollment forms from people interested in jump-starting a child's college education.

The State's prepaid college tuition program, Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET), allows families to "lock in" future tuition costs at today's price. This flexible and affordable program offers two ways to purchase college tuition now and avoid the steady rise of higher education costs later.

First, through a Customized Monthly Payment Plan, a specific number of tuition units are purchased at a fixed price and paid by monthly contributions over a period of time convenient for the purchaser (maximum of 10 years). For instance, by purchasing 100 units over a 10-year period, the monthly payment would be $46.

The second option is to purchase Individual Tuition Units at a fixed piece of $38 for the 1999-2000 year. For example, buying 100 units at $38 would be $3,800. As few as one unit or as many as 500 units may be purchased. The price of Individual Tuition Units is reset every July to account for annual inflation and rising tuition costs.

GET is easy to contribute to and flexible. Use of tuition units is not limited to Washington's higher education institutions, and are redeemable by the student beneficiary at accredited higher education institute.
