Blood drives planned for Northshore area

   The Puget Sound Blood Center will hold a blood drive in the new Worship Center lobby at Northshore Baptist Church, 10301 NE 145th Ave. NE in Bothell, Sept. 20 from 2 to 8 p.m., with a break from 4:15 to 5 p.m. Another blood drive is planned for the Franciscan Care Center, 10909 - 185th Ave. NE in Bothell, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a break from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Donors should eat a full meal and drink plenty of fluids before giving blood. Monty Roberts to demonstrate horse training technique

   Monty Roberts, world-renowned horse trainer and author of The Man Who Listens To Horses, will demonstrate his JOIN UP horse training technique and give an introduction to the language of the Equus on Monday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Fairgrounds Equestrian Arena. General admission is $25 per person. VIP seating is $75 (includes VIP seating and a reception to meet Monty). The event benefits EquiFriends, a non-profit Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program for Children and Adults with Disabilities, which is located near Snohomish. For tickets, call 1-888-U2-MONTY. Yard sale at Grange

   The Sammamish Valley Grange will hold a yard sale on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Indoor tables and outside stalls may be rented for $10. Call (425) 483-2693 for information. The Grange is located at 14654 - 148th NE in Woodinville.
