Running coach to speak at college

Arthur Lydiard, well-known distance running coach who devised the training system used in the sport today, will be speaking at Lake Washington Technical College on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lydiard's seminar is aimed at both beginning and serious runners and will cover his training techniques.

Although 80 years old, he is as dynamic and excited about the sport today as he was in the 1950s when he first turned a group of young men and women from a suburb in his native Auckland, New Zealand, into Olympic champions.

The college is located at 11605 132nd Avenue NE in Kirkland. Admission is $10 per person and $5 for children under 12. Pre-registration is not required, but seating is limited to 300.
