Carrying the Light of Hope

On Thursday, Sept. 23, hundreds of participants will gather at Greenlake in Seattle to take part in the Light the Night Leukemia Walk. The event begins at 6 p.m. and check-in is located near the amphitheater and crew boathouse at the south end of the lake at 6 p.m. Team Captain check-in begins at 5 p.m.

Light the Night is a nationwide 2-3 mile evening walk to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Leukemia Society and is characterized by a parade of illuminated balloons carried by participants.

White balloons are provided for cancer patients and survivors, while red balloons are provided for friends and family, as everyone walks together to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by leukemia and cancer. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Washington.

To register for the Light the Night Leukemia Walk, call the Leukemia office at 206-628-0777 or pick up a brochure at any participating Tully's Coffee location. All participants are encouraged to collect pledges. Prizes include LTN t-shirts, sweatshirts, gift certificates, and much more.
