Northshore has nine National Merit Semifinalists

Nine Northshore students have been named National Merit Semifinalists.

The semifinalists from Bothell High School are Sarah Anderson, daughter of Timothy and Susan Anderson of Bothell; and Justin Jensen, son of Richard and Kim Jensen of Bothell.

Those named for Inglemoor High School are Heidi Bazick, daughter of Patrick and Gregoria Bazick of Bothell; Colin Connolly, son of Kevin Connolly and Arlene Bryant of Woodinville; and Michelle Mills, daughter of Richard and Anne Mills of Kirkland.

The semifinalists from Woodinville High School are Sneha Desai, daughter of Shailesh and Smita Desai of Woodinville; and Melanie Velo-Simpson, daughter of Anthony and Carolyn Simpson of Kirkland.

Lauren Darnielle and Anshuman Srivastave, both of Woodinville and seniors at The Overlake School, were also named semifinalists.

Across the nation, the Foundation designates about 16,000 semifinalists from among nearly 1.2 million students who take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. The semifinalists, who represent less than one percent of each state's high school graduating class, are now competing for Merit Finalist status and an opportunity to obtain a National Merit Scholarship next spring.
