Blood drive

   The Duvall Firefighters Association will be hosting the Puget Sound Blood Center on Monday, Oct. 4, from 2-8 p.m. (with a lunch break from 4-4:45) at the headquarters station of Fire District 45 on the corner of 1st Ave. and Stella. Artists, crafters, and parade participants needed

   The Carnation Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Annual Christmas in Carnation on Saturday, Dec. 4. The Craft Bazaar will be from 10-4 in the Sno-Valley Service Center. Cost per table is a one-time fee of $15. Please, no garage sale or white elephant items. Call Georgia White-Romaine at 333-6895 to reserve a table. Blues jam at Pumps & Grinds

   On Oct. 2 (and on the first Saturday every month), come on down to Pumps & Grinds for a "we got the blues jam." This jam will be hosted by Robin Favela and begins at 7:30 p.m. Pumps & Grinds is located next to Seafirst Bank (now Bank of America) in Duvall. Call 844-2766.

Free developmental screenings available

   An Early Childhood Childfind screening, for children ages birth to 6 years of age, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 15 at Stillwater Elementary. This screening is sponsored by Riverview School District and Children's Services of Sno-Valley. Mentor training

   Training for those who wish to mentor a youth will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (lunch included). Call Lorry Kaye at 788-6716. Recipients are nine to 14-year-old youth who are referred to the mentoring program by school counselors.

Blessing of the Animals

   All creatures are invited to a Blessing of the Animals, in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 31911 E. Blanche St., Carnation. Call Ellen at 333-4930.

   Brooke is back to perform with Mathew Burgess and Mark Hibbert on Saturday, Oct. 2, 4-6 p.m., at Main Street Music. The Hooligans will also be on the MSM stage on Oct. 2 from 8-9 p.m. Main Street Music is located above the Coast to Coast in Duvall. Call 844-2988.

Hear about Novelty Bridge closure

   Jim Markus, King County Department of Transportation engineer, will speak on next year's closure of the Novelty Bridge at the Duvall Chamber of Commerce meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 11:45 a.m., at the Duvall Fire Hall. All those interested are invited.

Volunteers to be honored at Sno-Valley Seniors

   Sno-Valley Senior staff will honor over 100 volunteers on Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. at a special tea. If you have volunteered at the center and have not received your invitation, please RSVP at 333-4142 to be included.

Free math workshop

   Looking for ideas on how to make math fun? Parents and their first through third grade children will learn how to have a good time with math at a free workshop held Wednesday, Oct. 6, 6:30-8 p.m., at Stillwater Elementary Learning Resource Center.
