Andrew Bushnell

WHS senior to perform with Seattle Symphony in Duvall

Eighteen year-old violinist Andrew Bushnell, a senior at Woodinville High School and concertmaster of the WHS orchestra, has been selected to perform with the Seattle Symphony on Friday night, Oct. 8, at the Cedarcrest Performing Arts Center in Duvall.

Andrew, son of William and Joann Bushnell of Woodinville, has been studying privately with Seattle Symphony member Richard Skerlong for the last three years, but has been playing violin since he was 10.

Mark Adamo, director of the WHS Orchestra, said he nominated Andrew for the honor because of his tremendous talent and, just as importantly, because of his commitment and dedication to the WHS orchestra.

Last spring, Bushnell placed first in the Northlake Solo Contest, earning a berth to the Washington State Solo Championships at Central Washington University, where he earned high marks in his first appearance at the event. After graduation, Andrew hopes to attend the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Pumps and Grinds, Gardens and Sun Spaces, and Main Street Music in Duvall. Tickets are also available at the box office one hour before the performance.
