'Jack and the Beanstalk' opens in Kirkland

Storybook Theatre will kick off its second season of musicals for young audiences with Jack and the Beanstalk, opening Oct. 16th at the Kirkland Performance Center.

These 55-minute musical shows are specifically created for young audiences, ages three through nine, but also include bits intended to keep the adults engaged in the play. The performers are adult professional actors, who are accompanied by an onstage musician. The productions encourage the young audience members to participate through voice, movement, and imagination, and after the play, the actors answer questions from the audience.

Jack and the Beanstalk is the first in a season of four musicals for young audiences which will be presented at Kirkland Performance Center, as well as the PUD Auditorium in Everett. Future productions include Cinderella, The Three Little Pigs, and Rapunzel.

Jack and the Beanstalk will run through Oct. 24, Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $6, plus the KPC service charge. For tickets and information, call the KPC box office at 425-893-9900. School shows are also available for all StoryBook Theatre productions. Call Studio East at 425-827-3123 for more information and a school show brochure.
