Ghosts, goblins and haunted houses

   The Hollywood Schoolhouse, 14810 NE 145th in Woodinville, will be the location for the Halloween Festival & Costume Party, Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Cooper Joseph Lytle Guild of Children's Hospital is hosting the event which features games, treats, music, prizes, Suzi the Juggler, and Clowns Unlimited. A professional photographer will be on hand, and every child will receive a gift bag. Cost at the door will be $3 per child for ages two and over. Parents and children are encouraged to wear costumes.

   Bothell Parks & Rec offers two hours of fright and fun at the Haunted Pool, Saturday, Oct. 23, from 1:45 to 3:45 p.m at the Northshore Pool, 9815 NE 188th in Bothell. There will be games, prizes, and treats for ages 6-12. Cost is $5 per person. Pre-registration is required.

   A Safe Halloween is planned for Bothell's Main Street, Saturday, Oct. 30. Face painting, fish pond, and trick-or-treating will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. To enter the jack-o-lantern contest, bring a carved pumpkin to the corner of Main and 101st between 2 and 4 p.m. The public will vote and prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. For information, call (425) 486-7430.

   Take a moonlight walk through a frightening forest, if you dare, at the second annual Halloween Haunted Trails, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 22-23, and Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 28-31, from 7 to 11 p.m. The trails are located on the grounds of Bastyr University and St. Edward State Park, 14500 Juanita Dr. NE in Kenmore. The event, which is sponsored by the Bastyr University Student Council, is intended for children ages 12 and up. Cost is $6 or $5 with a non-perishable food item or blanket for donation to area food banks and shelters. For information, call (425) 820-2387.

   The Pumpkin Patch at Root Connection Farm, 13607 Woodinville-Redmond Rd., is open for picking through Oct. 29. For details, call (425) 881-1006.

   The KUBE Haunted House will run through Oct. 31 at the Seattle Center. Heated tents will provide entertainment, food, and beverages. Admission is $10 at the door with a $1.50 discount with a canned food donation for Food Lifeline. For details, call (206) 232-2982.
