Babysitting class offered

   Camp Fire Boys and Girls is offering an 8-hour training class for boys and girls in grades 5-7 that teaches safety skills, responsive play, and much more on Nov. 13 and 20 from 10am-2pm. Cost is $22. Pre-registration is required; call (206) 461-8550.

It doesn't have to be 'Bye-Bye Birdie'

   The Humane Society for Seattle/King County will be the site of a special bird microchipping clinic on Sunday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Microchippping is a safe and quick procedure which identifies a bird with an identification number implanted with a syringe needle. Birds of all types and sizes are welcome in safe and secure carriers. Cost is $15. The Humane Society is located at 13212 SE Eastgate Way in Bellevue. For information, call 641-0080.

Make your backyard wildlife-friendly

   Learn how to create a wildlife-friendly landscape using native plants in backyards at a Naturescaping Workshop and Native Plant Salvage to be held Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Lake Washington School District Resource Center, 16250 NE 73rd in Redmond. The indoor workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon; the outdoor salvage is planned for noon to 3 p.m. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring work gloves, shovel, and containers for salvaged plants.
