Watercolor class

   Learn the basics of watercolor composition and techniques with local artist and teacher Hubertus Liere. The class is for ages 12 through adult on Saturday mornings from 10 to 12 at the Carnation Library through Dec. 11. All supplies will be provided. Class size is limited, so please register by calling 425-333-4398.

Cherry Creek tributary planting

   Help improve habitat for salmon on a farm near Cherry Creek. King County is sponsoring a tree planting day on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at Cherry Valley Elementary. Light refreshments will be provided. Bring gloves; planting will be done rain or shine. Please call Bob Spencer at 206-296-1951 if you plan to attend.

Music and art at Pumps & Grinds

   Spend Saturday evening, Nov. 13, at Pumps & Grinds with talented local artists. Kicking off the evening will be an art opening featuring Alma Chaney's photographs of Sandblast and Woodstack from 6-7 p.m. Brooke Pennock, singer and songwriter, will entertain from 7-9 p.m. No cover. Steak, chicken, or fish dinner/pie auction at senior center

   A pie auction will be held at the Sno-Valley Senior Center steak dinner on Nov. 13, and will feature fresh-baked pies made by local friends and volunteers. Auctioneer George Magnochi will be auctioning off the pies during the three seating sessions: 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new double range and oven for the senior center. Hear about Inside Passage adventure

   A local husband-wife adventure team will highlight their 1996 Inside Passage kayak trip with slides and readings on Nov. 10, 7:30 p.m. at the Sno-Valley Senior Center, 4610 Stephens Ave. in Carnation. Hosted by the Tolt Historical Society. The public is invited to this free program.

Senior center anniversary dinner

   The Sno-Valley Senior Center's annual Autumn Anniversary Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20, 5:30-9 p.m. at Carnation Elementary School. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 per person, or donate and buy a table for $250. Special performance by the Cedarcrest High School Jazz Band. MC will be Steve Collins, Carnation Chamber of Commerce president. Please send your check to P.O. Box 96, Carnation, WA 98014, or bring it to the center at 4610 Stephens St. by Tuesday, Nov. 16. Nominate students for PAT program

   Riverview School District's Program for the Academically Talented (PAT) is currently seeking nominations for the 2000-2001 school year. Anyone interested in nominating a child should immediately request a nomination packet from his or her child's elementary school office. The nomination forms need to be returned to the school office by Friday, Dec. 17. All nominated 1st-4th graders will be tested at Carnation Elementary School from 9:30-noon on Saturday, Jan. 8 and 22. The goal for the program is to support and provide appropriate academic challenge for students with extraordinary ability in reading, language arts, or math. Party for Chase Morris

   The Chase Morris family invites friends and their families to a party in Chase's honor on Saturday, Nov. 13, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carnation Multi-Service Center. A potluck supper will be served at 5 p.m. For more information, call 333-4211. No presents, please.
