Thanks to the Fire District voters

I want to thank each of the voters who chose to retain me in the position of commissioner. I will work hard to honor your trust.

I know I will not be able to please everyone all the time, but remember my promise: I will devote all my education and experience to maintain and improve your service by searching for the best possible solution for each need and applying that solution in a cost-effective way. But I am not a surgeon (always cut, cut, cut). That could be counterproductive.

Also, please know that I am not into micro-management. We commissioners are to provide oversight and control over the policies and budgets of the district. Management under that control is the responsibility of the chief and his staff. If they fail to meet that responsibility, they should be replaced. But to micro-manage them renders them impotent and unneccesary. I believe that, in the limited space available, I made these points in my literature.

The biggest victory of all was keeping the commission under civilian control, and your support made that possible. Again, you have my most sincere gratitude.

Roy Bleikamp, Commissioner, Woodinville Fire & Life Safety District
