This holiday season, Hooterville Pets Safehaus is offering a way for people to remember their beloved pets. The second annual holiday Tree of Love lighting will take place on Dec. 11 at 5 p.m. in front of the shelter at Country Village.

Lights can be purchased for the tree at $5 per light. The purchase of white lights honors pets who are no longer with us, and the purchase of colored lights honors those pets who are still with us. All funds received go toward helping homeless and abused animals.

"The holidays are a sentimental time of year for animal lovers to think about their deceased pets, as well as those still with us," said Marci Hennes, the organizer of the Tree of Love. "This gives us all an opportunity to celebrate the season in memory and celebration of the pets that have brought us so much joy in our lives."

Light refreshments for both people and pets will be provided, as well as a blessing. Order forms can be picked up at the Country Village location or at their website, hootervillesafehaus.org. Donations and orders for lights can also be sent directly to Hooterville Safehaus, 23812 Bothell-Everett Hwy., Bothell, WA 98021. Please specify number of colored and/or white lights. For information, call (425) 488-8878.
