Leota crowned league champs

Leota football

   With an undefeated season (5-0), the Leota Junior High School varsity football team won the championship game against Timbercrest Jr. High, 14-0. Coaches for the team are Jim Mangilardi, Ron Saario, Dan Sander, Jerry Strain, and Sam Adkins.

City offers drop-in volleyball and badminton

   The City of Woodinville is offering recreational volleyball and badminton through winter and spring 2000.

   Drop-in Volleyball is held on Wednesdays through Dec. 15, and Jan. 5, through May 31, 2000. Held at Wellington Elementary gym from 8:30 to 11p.m., the cost is $2 per person per night. No drop-in on Feb. 23 and April 19.

   Drop-in Badminton is held Tuesdays beginning Dec. 14, and then Jan. 4 through March 7, 2000. Held at Leota Junior High gym from 8:30 to 11p.m., the cost is $2 per person per night. No drop-in Feb. 22.

   These drop-in organized game opportunities are for men and women of all ages. Participants must have release forms on file to participate. Minors under the age of 18 must have parent signature on the release form. Release forms are available at Woodinville City Hall; for details, call 425-398-9327.

Bus planned for skiers and snowboarders

   The City of Woodinville ski and snowboard bus returns this winter to provide transportation for teens and families to the Steven's Pass ski area.

   The bus is available Tuesday, Dec. 28; Thursday, Dec. 30; Monday, Jan. 17; and Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 22 and 24. The bus picks up riders at Woodinville City Hall at 7:30 a.m. and returns back to City Hall at 5:30 p.m.

   The cost per trip is $16 per person. Riders must be 14 years or older to ride alone on the bus. All ages are allowed with an accompanying adult who must be designated by parent on the waiver form. Waiver forms must be completed and signed for all participants. If a rider is under the age of 18, a form must be signed by parent or legal guardian.

   Pre-registration 24 hours prior to the trip is highly recommended. No supervision is provided on the ski hill, but City of Woodinville staff will be providing supervision on the bus.
