King County prosecutors have filed second-degree assault charges against a Carnation man who police say attacked a woman in a restaurant restroom at Redmond Town Center on Nov. 2.
Prosecutors say Guadalupe Trujillo, 30, followed a woman he did not know into the women's rest room at a restaurant, then slammed the stall door against her head, the force of the blow knocking her back into the stall and onto the floor.
Trujillo then got on top of the 18-year-old victim and punched her in the head approximately five times with a closed fist, then forced her head into the toilet several times, court documents said. He grabbed her throat for about 10 seconds, keeping her from breathing, papers said. The victim was able to break free and run out into the restaurant.
As security officers approached Trujillo, he kicked one of them in the leg, said prosecutors. The victim picked Trujillo from a photomontage the following day, said prosecutors.
The victim suffered a sore jaw, bruises, and marks around the face and neck, and a black eye. Prosecutors said the victim's actions in fighting off the attack prevented a more serious assault.
Trujillo posted $25,000 bond after spending three days in jail. His next court date is Nov. 19.
