King County Water and Land Resource Division issued Phase 2 flood alerts for both the Tolt and Snoqualmie Rivers last Friday after several days of heavy rain caused rivers to rise in Western Washington.
The Snoqualmie River began to drop above the Falls on Friday afternoon and was expected to crest at 54 feet (winter flood stage) at Carnation by midnight, said project manager Ken Zweig. Some low-lying roads and fields were underwater Friday afternoon, he said, adding that the Tolt crested at 4,260 CFS at 7 a.m. Friday.
"There were some affected neighborhoods," he said. "But the situation is improving."
