Cedarcrest High School has reason to celebrate after a successful volleyball season ending with a journey to the state tournament held at St. Martin's College in Lacey.

After a series of league and district playoffs, involving 81 teams throughout the state, the Red Wolves came home from the state championship with an 8th place trophy in the 3A Class. Cedarcrest volleyball was the school's first team to make state playoffs since the Red Wolves joined the Kingco 3A League.

The team should feel especially proud of their accomplishment, as Cedarcrest has the smallest enrollment in the league. This fact only sparked their desire to work hard and do their best. The camaraderie between the girls was a contributing factor to their success. They knew every match was a team effort.

First-year coach and Cedarcrest graduate Christine Hillestad was voted Kingco Coach of the Year. Christine was on the Cedarcrest volleyball team when it last reached the state playoffs in class A, finishing in 2nd place in 1994.
