'How to Get Involved'
Citizens who want to become more involved in their state government, but aren't sure how, can learn in time for the next legislative session.
Rep. Kathy Lambert, R-Redmond, is offering a free course, "How to Get Involved in Government." The class, open to anyone interested, will be held on Monday, Dec. 6, from 7 to 8:30 pm. at the Redmond Library. This is the fourth year Lambert has offered the course for local citizens.
The class covers five major topics:
Time will also be set aside for questions and answers. Anyone interested in attending the class can enroll by contacting Lambert's legislative office at (360) 786-7878. - Communicating effectively with your legislator;
- Identifying committees and the lawmakers that work on the issues you care about;
- How to read a bill;
- How to follow what's going on in Olympia;
- How to present an idea for a new law.
