Call for volunteers

   Puget Sound Blood Center seeks volunteers to help at mobile blood drives and at donation centers. Volunteer opportunities include registering people before they give blood, serving refreshments while monitoring donors after they give blood, and calling to remind donors of their appointments. Graham cracker holiday houses at Top Food

   It's time to create sweet holiday memories at Top Food & Drug in Woodinville. Parents and children are invited to a free class at the store on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon to build their own holiday houses, using graham crackers. All supplies will be provided. All participating children will receive an individual pack of cookies and are entered into a store drawing for a gift basket of assorted Nabisco cookies and crackers. In addition, participants have the opportunity to enter a photo of the holiday housethey created for a Nabisco Biscuit Company grand prize of $5,000.

   Holiday bakers can receive answers to their baking questions by calling a Land O' Lakes home economist at 1-800-782-9606. The line will be open through Dec. 24 seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PST). Callers may also download holiday recipes and helpful hints on their website at

Calling all elves...

   It's that time of year again--Santa's workshop is open and he's looking for elves to help wrap (and possibly deliver) gifts for the Forgotten Children's Fund. Santa's Workshop, located at the Old Navy Brig at the Sand Point Naval Base (7400 Sandpoint Way NE, Building #406), will be open Dec. 10-23. Call (425) 778-6094 for information.
