Peg Phillips recovering

by Marshall Haley, staff reporter

WOODINVILLE--Peg Phillips, Woodinville's favorite resident actress, is recuperating at home after a car broke her right hip and wrist in the Woodinville Shari's parking lot, early Thursday afternoon, Dec. 23.

Phillips said she was walking from Shari's to her car when a car started backing out of a parking stall toward her. Assuming the driver saw her and was going to stop, she kept walking. When the car kept coming, she yelled, then banged on its trunk, but was knocked down before the driver realized there might be a problem.

Phillips was taken by aid car to Evergreen Hospital, where she received an unwanted Christmas present of three pins in her broken hip and was also treated for a wrist injury. Phillips was released from Evergreen before Y2K, but came home with an unwelcome case of pneumonia.

Woodinville Police Sgt. Kent Baxter said the encounter was ruled an accident, and the driver was not cited.
