Rose Williams admits guilt

"Somewhere along the line, there was an offer and a temptation, and she fell," lamented Leslie Clay Terry, attorney for 60-year-old Rose Williams, Miss Washington USA of 1958. Williams, who on Jan. 5 admitted she profited from prostitutes working in her Kenmore houses, was first arrested for running a prostitution ring in 1971. She faces sentencing on Feb. 11 for promoting prostitution and money laundering. She and her lawyer hope for a minimal community service sentence and are trying to recover some $157,000 in frozen assets, which they claim had nothing to do with Williams' illegal activities. Terry claims most of Williams' money resulted from employing her legal massage license.

Meth bust in Canyon Park motel

Bothell police officers arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance last Thursday at a Canyon Park motel in the 1400 block of 228th St. SE. A motel employee smelled a strong odor coming from the man's room and called police. The suspect left before police arrived, but they found him a block away. As of Friday, investigators from the Washington State Patrol Hazardous Materials unit had not released test results on the substance, but they suspect methamphetamine, said Bothell Police Officer Elmer Brown.
