Community-minded kids gather food

5th grade class

   Mrs. Young's 5th grade class at Fall City Elementary School, in cooperation with Mt. Si High School's food drive this year, collected over 2,000 pounds of food for local food banks. Fall City Elementary collected over 9,600 pounds total.

Towbridge wins quilt

   The Dr. J.W. Yowell Guild has announced that Joyce Towbridge won the quilt for the year 1999. The quilt was made by the guild in the Carnation/Duvall area. For several years, a quilt has been made and raffled, but next year's may be auctioned instead. All profit goes to benefit Children's Hospital in Seattle to help families whose children have severe illnesses.

REF meets

   The Riverview Educational Foundation (REF) will meet on Feb. 14, 7 p.m., in the Carnation Elementary staff lounge. The public is invited.

Veterinarian to speak at Cherry Valley Riders meeting

   Cherry Valley Riders, a local saddle club, meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Duvall Fire Station. New members are welcome. Call 425-788-9246 for more information. At the Feb. 8 meeting, "Whole Mouth Dentistry" will be presented by Jerry Washburn, DVM, from Equine Veterinary Services. This presentation will focus on the biomechanics of the horse's mouth.

Music at Pumps & Grinds

   Singer/songwriter "Isaac" will perform at Pumps & Grinds coffee house on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 7-9 p.m. Pumps & Grinds is located next to Bank of America in Duvall. Call 844-2766 for more information.

Jazz Night at Cedarcrest

   The United Snoqualmie Valley Scholarship Foundation presents Jazz Night on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 7 p.m. at Cedarcrest High School. Playing will be the Generation Gap Big Band, Mt. Si High School Jazz Band, and Cedarcrest High School Jazz Band. Proceeds benefit scholarships and the music program.
