Upper Bear Creek Council to meet

The Upper Bear Creek Community Council will meet Feb. 29 be at the Woodinville Water District Office, 17238 NE Woodinville/Duvall Rd., starting at 7:30 p.m.

In 1998, the King County Council adopted new policies calling for a subarea planning process to designate and protect equestrian communities through a special district overlay. During 1999, Department of Development and Environmental Services (DDES) has been working with an equestrian advisory group on implementing these policies. A new draft ordinance is now available for public review.

Tom Fitzpatrick, senior land use planner for DDES, will present a detailed briefing of the proposed ordinance that related to zoning amending the existing zoning. It would provide options for trails protection or replacement, and provides the same trail construction standards set forth for trails in sensitive area buffers.

King County Council Member Cynthia Sullivan, chair of the Growth Management and Unicorporated Area Council's Committees, will be present for part of this meeting.

Review responses and comments on this proposed ordinance can be sent by e-mail to, or by calling 206-296-07125. For information about the council, call Nancy Stafford at 425-788-5841, or Peter Lamanna at 425-702-9828.
