Northshore has eight National Merit Finalists

The National Merit Scholarship Foundation has named eight Northshore seniors as National Merit Finalists.

The semifinalists from Bothell High are Sarah Anderson, daughter of Timothy and Susan Anderson of Bothell; and Justin Jensen, son of Richard and Kim Jensen of Bothell.

From Inglemoor High are Heidi Bazick, daughter of Patrick and Gregoria Bazick of Bothell; Colin Connolly, son of Kevin Connolly and Arlene Bryant of Woodinville; Caitlin Miller, daughter of Mark and Barbara Miller of Brier; and Michelle Mills, daughter of Richard and Anne Mills of Kirkland.

The semifinalists from Woodinville High are Sneha Desai, daughter of Shailesh and Smita Desai of Woodinville; and Melanie Velo-Simpson, daughter of Anthony and Carolyn Simpson of Kirkland.

Across the nation, the Foundation designated about 14,000 Finalists from among the Semifinalists named last September. These students now compete for some 7,000 National Merit Scholarships to be awarded this spring.

Even if the Finalists do not receive a National Merit Scholarship, they often receive scholarship offers from other sources because of their standing as National Merit Finalists.
