This seven-week course will prepare participants to assist the fire department in dealing with catastrophic events at the local level. Each Wednesday, class members will receive instructions with hands-on activities, such as the use of portable fire extinguishers, search and rescue, first response, and first aid techniques for medical emergencies.
The class is offered in a very informal setting, instructed by fire service professionals and create a positive learning experience for the students, who will find that this training can be applied to day-to-day activities within the community and who will develop an awareness level of the fire service. It is strongly recommended for homeowner association members, businesses, and those involved in their local community disaster planning efforts.
