YMCA celebrates single parents March 19

helping out

The Northshore YMCA and Woodinville Foursquare Church joined recently to help single moms in the community. A number of men from the church volunteered their time by changing oil, checking antifreeze, washing, vacuuming, and checking over the cars for the moms. Here Kevin Cassidy took extra time to explain to single mom Sheri VanTent some of the how-to's of checking fluids and making sure things under the hood are looking as they should.

The Northshore YMCA will hosting a special event for single parents and children on Sunday, March 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. Parents and kids will be able to celebrate together by enjoying carnival booths, relay games, sing-alongs, and refreshments. There will also be a drawing for both parents and the children.

For the parents, the grand prize will be a flight for two on Kenmore Air to the San Juan Islands with dinner at the Roche Harbor Resort. Other giveaways will include a gift certificate to Nordstrom's, carpet cleaning by Ernie's Carpets, and a gift certificate to Top Food and Drug in Woodinville. The drawing for children will include toys from Toys 'R' Us.
